The City of Galveston is inviting families to its 4th Annual Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, February 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free, family-friendly event has quickly become a community favorite, offering children and adults the opportunity to explore a wide array of city vehicles and equipment up close.
From fire engines and police patrol units to garbage trucks, attendees will have the chance to meet the city employees who operate these vehicles and learn how they help serve the Galveston community every day. In addition to the impressive display of equipment, the event will feature child-geared activities designed to provide fun and hands-on learning experiences.
To ensure the event is inclusive and welcoming to all families, the first hour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. will be designated as a “quiet hour.” During this time, there will be no loud sirens or sudden noises, creating a sensory-friendly environment for children with noise sensitivities.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to connect with the people and equipment that keep Galveston running every day,” City Manager Brian Maxwell said. “Touch-a-Truck gives kids a chance to climb aboard, ask questions, and learn more about the important work our city teams do.”
The Touch-a-Truck event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy this exciting, hands-on experience.
